Let's Hear It For 'Normal,' Everday Polygamy !
Those in righteous uproar over church/cult members living, and enjoying, polygamy might chill out.
CNN's Wolf Blitzer, and another reporter, last night went into the home of a cult/church family: Daddy, Mommy, 5 children.
Not a bug-eyed, flat-toned clone or drone in the bunch.
No horry chambers or chains. But also no TV, fan magazines or Internet.
Lots of books.
Seemed normal, loving, balanced. Kids with a healthy sense of humor, and respect for their parents.
Kind of refreshing when not one family member had ever heard of Brittany Spears or Hannah Montana.
No signs of abuse, coercion.
Hard not to like, and in some ways, admire this seemingly abnormal family.
But then, it's getting hard to know what a "normal family" or behavior is these days.
Example:
Yesterday, NPR (radio) spent 21 minutes explaining why it was now "normal" for a different American Mommy and Daddy who had started calling their 8-year old son 'she' because he "has a temper tantrum for two hours when we don't let him wear dresses or play with dolls."
Let the kid wear dresses and play with the dolls.
Boy George has been around for 30 years. Shemales. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. La Cage Aux Faux.
Let the kid play on the football team, and then do cheerleader splits at halftime.
Let him shave legs, armpits, face, eyelashes and head, if he/she wants to.
Let the kid get a Semper Fidelis tattoo on his bicep and a pretty rose and transgender/gay flag on his derriere.

Let little Billy later marry Bobbie. Sally marry Suzie. And if no one wants to marry, that's cool, too.
Let women in the men's restroom....and boys in the girl's room. And if they don't like restrooms, the front yard's OK, too.
When confused by all this social change, we can take comfort in the quotes of our eloquent leader and family sage, George W. Bush:
"Families is where our nation finds hope, Where our wings take dream.
Put food on your family! Make the pie higher!"
I'd rather just pray for a normal Black family in the White House next January.
