The Knives Are Out

The Knives Are Out
Gloves are off and knives out when it comes to Barack Obama.
It was OK while he seemed a long shot.
But now Hillary's toast.... no matter what happens in W. Virginia tomorrow.
Cracks appearing in the veneer of polite conservative and liberal society.

A few days ago, I wrote several posts, on this site and a newspaper blog,  that 1) criticized the Clintons; and 2) mentioned support for Obama.

On Sunday, I hitched a ride to church with a friend.
We hadn't gone 100 yards before friend's face got red, hands started to shake, and friend commented: "Give me ONE reason, one reason to vote for Obama? Ha! Obama!  Clinton!  What a couple of duds."
If too dumb to keep my views from recent blogposts, I know better than talk politics with friends.
I wanted to answer with a question: 'With 82 percent of Americans thinking the nation is on the wrong track, who would you pick? Those who've been at the center of Washington and the problem? Or a new view, a new face for change?'
But I said nothing, sensing how upset he was.
And I have to admit he upset me.
So have some people who've written back about my blogposts.

Obama is "just an empty suit."

He's  in the hands, under the thumb of big money and big oil.
Hamas loves Obama.  Obama loves Hamas.
Obama hates Jews.
He’ll bankrupt America. (Shouldn't take long.)
His wife is a  'bitter, angry, unworthy reverse racist'...a "fire hydrant", as one blogger came back at me.
They've taken offense when  I've suggested there might be a little of the ol 'black and white thing' in their own views.
So, I'm with Obama all the way.
To the White House.
And I'll stand my ground.

I am not as enthusiastic about Obama as you seem to be, however, for very different reasons than you infer. I fear for him! I agree with you that as a nation we have learned to be politically correct but we still have a very great abyss between the blacks and the whites. It makes me sad.
I think Hillary is smarter about all the deep mud in D.C. and might be able to manuever through it better, but I believe that either one is a vastly better candidate than what we are living with right now. McCain??? You mean McBush!!!

I don't like any of the major candidates. I have had a Ron Paul sign in my yard for 6 months or more. We need a viable 3rd party choice. I heard Ron Paul speak a few years ago and liked his common sense approach.
